
Before the huge shopping center on Crenshaw and century was built, Haagan construction paid the city of Inglewood 28 million dollars to have exclusive rights to build the shopping megaplex. This bid took out all potential local construction companies from bidding on the build.
In turn Haagan hired 98 percent non blacks to work. Inglewood is 40 percent black and regulations state that Haagan had to hire at least 40 percent black since the city is comprised of that ethnicity. The protest stopped shipments and the police couldn't break it up.
